Presentations from the 2010 ADSA-ASAS meeting
Kahne’s wireless technology is being used in over 25 research organisations. Some of these scientists presented their preliminary findings at the ADSA-ASAS meeting in Denver in July 2010:
Professor Bill Pinchak and colleagues of the Texas AgriLife Research and Texas A&M University, successfully deployed and operated the Kahne wireless bolus in rumen cannulated steers to investigate the timing and duration of frothy bloat during the grazing wheat season.
Jolene Kelzer and colleagues of the Universities of Minnesota and Florida looked at the effects of supplemental manganese on rumen pH and hydrogen sulphide concentration in beef steers fed with high sulphur diets containing distiller grains.
Dr Jose Laporte of Kahne Ltd presented the reliability and accuracy of the Kahne wireless rumen sensors. He confirmed that the drift from the pH sensor was not significantly different after 7 days of use. Furthermore, if not calibrated, has an accuracy of 0.1pH point after 28 days of continuous use in the rumen.
